| This is a perversion of what Objectivists would normally think of as responsibility—personal responsibility. It is an appeal to socialism. In the 1960s, Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl warned Americans not to forget the responsibility side of the freedom equation by recommending the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast of America be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast. Appropriately, the proposed monument is an abomination. It is unbalanced and completely uninspiring. | ||
