| Many is the night, with the Drooling Beast raging loose within me, that I have wandered around London cursing Tony Blair's name while looking for a place to buy a beer. Finally, as of tomorrow, I shall be able to go out for a late beer after 11.00pm without having to pay an exorbitant cover charge for an impossble-to-find nightclub, which was the only option previously since pubs were forced to close at that time. Labour has finally kept to the promise it has been making for years to let pubs decide their own opening hours. If critics are to be believed I will be of course totally unable to handle the responsibility, so in that spirit, tomorrow night I shall raise a belated glass to Labour, before throwing a brick through the Conservatives' front window.
