The SwimmerThe Swimmer
Danielle Anjou

Beautiful bronze by Danielle Anjou. Poised, powerful, heroic! I would love to see a piece fitting the description of Howard Roark splitting the water beneath the cliffs. This one will do for me.

Wanderer Above the Sea of FogWanderer Above the Sea of Fog
Caspar David Friedrich

This is the one painting I have seen that most clearly and powerfully expresses the noble view of man, such as that in the works of Ayn Rand.  To best appreciate Friedrich's "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog," I suggest you contemplate it while listening to Ludwig van's Glorious Ninth - the second or fourth movement, your choice.

The Role of GovernmentThe Role of Government
Harry Roolaart

Harry Roolaart is a fotografic artist who wishes to convey principles of Objectivism and patriotism through his works. This image skillfully juxtaposes American troops disembarking in foreign territory with The Constitution as a background, implying that the legitimate function of government is indeed to defend its citizens against force and exert ... Sleeping Giant AwakensSleeping Giant Awakens
Harry Roolaart

This is a proud statement of defiance in response to the September 11th tragedy. Amid the desolate rubble of the World Trade Center, which should have, in the terrorists' designs, brought about despair and hopelessness, stands a solitary fireman, with his hands proudly on his hips, determined to dispose of the mess and regain mastery of the situati... Quent Cordair

A couple stands atop a balcony in a seaside town with an architectural flair quite unlike anything encountered in traditional "exotic cultures." The purity of the white structures is enhanced by the geometric elegance of their design and the vibrant blue domes on top. The man and woman, in an embrace of devotion, stare out into the setting sun, tru... (See the whole comment)

An Awakening MindAn Awakening Mind
Damon-Armand Heslington Denys

A firm young woman reclines on a hillside with a book in hand. With determined and focused eyes, she surveys the scenery around her, likely taking a moment to deliberate over the contents of what she has read (as she has her fingers in the pages of the book, intending to return shortly to the undertaking). She is alone with her thoughts and elevate... (See the whole comment)

Between hurricanes, Kant, and the anniversary of 9/11 I was in a terrible mood. This 9/11 turned out to be a beautiful day and more in keeping with my spirit I went outside to draw landscapes. You can find the other three at www.RomanticRealism.net, the info marked in blue are the recent updates. Michael (See the whole comment)

Fight Fire With FireFight Fire With Fire
Joseph Maurone

An inversion of the medieval "damsel in distress" as a metaphor for the modern day perils confronting many a single mother, who in the absence of a knight in shining armor, have to "fight fire with fire"...

40 New Works http://www.michaelnewberry.com/studioupdate/2005-02/ Recently I have finished a few long term projects and have painted many outdoor oil sketches. One of them, the image here, I couldn't resist by titling it: Postmodernism is Dead, Long Live Light. It amused me to do so.  Originally I was painting the dead uproote... (See the whole comment)

"Between painting all the landscapes and interiors I am moving forward on two new works: Kimberly above and Lovers below. A great friend and collector recently visited me and mentioned that I rarely spoke of the content of my work; how the subject came about or how I feel about it. I thought I would write a little about that now." ... (See the whole comment)

There's just something about this man's paintings that just resonates with me. Many times I am alone, but not lonely. I could be in a group for a while and realize that I haven't spoken to anyone at all - that I'm observing them, not with them. Sometimes I'm 'awakened' from this reverie-like state with the question, "Why are you sad"? To which I'll...

Congo Dungslin'ger

This dazzling painting, done by a forward-thinking, early post-modern artist of the 1950's who went simply by the name of Congo, is just one example of many purely stunning works of progressive artwork that undoubtedly inspired thousands of admirers and imitators.  Recently fetching over $26,000 (American) in a London auction, some of Congo's art w... Parson is a Tucson artist (my hometown) who loves trains. I had the fortune of meeting this very gracsious artist one day after getting a coffee at Starbucks and then browsing the gallery next door. I was wandering about when I saw the trains on the back wall. I walked over and remarked to the lady tending the gallery that they were beautiful and t... (See the whole comment)
