Esthetics of Sculpture
Sculpture is the selective recreation of reality through the use of three-dimensional shape.
As a visual art, its purpose is the same as that of Painting.
It attempts to embody a concept by forming a visual equivalent of the concept.
This requires a visual integration that parallels a conceptual integration.
Since shape is the characteristic sculptures are able to convey, the concepts being
concretized must have an element of shape involved.
Moreover, shape must be an important feature of the concept.
The human body has been the primary subject of sculpture.
Other objects, such as animals, are possible.
