This is good news. Being in the pharmacy profession I firmly believe that the FDA has done immeasurable damage to the drug industry and people's lives. Hopefully they will approve Sativex; an aerosal form of cannabis that is manufactured by Bayer.

Sadly there are two problems with this law and they are (1) the State legislature and (2) the Federal legislature.

Isn't it better to enjoy your piece of the pie rather than to complain about it being too small?  More is good yes, fight for more, but take the time to savor what you have today.

As someone who celebrates and enjoys using marijuana, this news from Denver is another step toward the freedom to enjoy myself without fear of prosecution. Thanks for posting it Ed!!

I don't understand the argument about legalising possession to reduce the use of alcohol...I have heard this before but I just don't get it. I don't think I have ever noticed any relationship between my drinking and smoking. Is the reasoning that people will be too baked to get off the couch and go to a bar, or is it actually more sophisticated than this?

That's a good question, Ash.

I know several people who don't touch a drop of alcohol but like to smoke a doobie instead. These are the guys that give us all a ride home after drunken, rugby-watching parties :-)

There are also many who partake of both but never seem to do so at the same time. Go figure.

As regards using reduced alcohol consumption as an excuse to legalise marijuana, well, it's a limp argument from a libertarian viewpoint. Isn't it?
