Of course, some lefty, multicultural anthropologist will point out that the intrusion of the modern world is interfering with the beautiful, ancient, tradition of these people.

Marriage can and ought to be one of the high points of a happy life. How cruel it is for parents to interfere with the individual's choice of mate!

Exactly my point! Those assholes claim to be in favor of liberal values (in the best sense of the term), but liberalism means fuck-all to them whenever they see occasion to bemoan capitalism and disparage the West.
