Yes, so is subsidizing the settlers with the taxes by the Core-lander Israelians. What shall we do?

Those parts of counrtryside cannot be defended by the Israelian army for long. They have been strategic weaknesses and the retreat was in the interest of Israel. However, the way it was conducted is not very liberal, but rather socialist.

I don’t know enough to have an opinion on the wisdom of the withdrawal. I do know that Sharon has a long history of being, how shall I say it, not pro-Palestinian. He and others who know more facts than I seem to think it is a wise tactic. (Unless someone hypnotized him and his cabinet.)

Though I disagree with the USA's support for the Israeli withdrawl from GAZA, I believe there are several potential future scenarios that could work to the Israeli's advantage:

1) (Unlikely)  The Palestinians prove themselves competent at self-rule in Gaza, creating a vibrant economy for themselves and become peaceful neighbors.

2) (Possible)  The Palestinians prove incapable of governing themselves, blame it on Israel and a lack of foreign aid, and live in misery and squalor while secretly wishing the Israeli's return to restore order and some quality of life, yet refrain from terrorist attacks against Israel.

3) (More likely)  The Palestinians turn Gaza into a staging area for massing weapons and launching terrorist attacks against Isreali (while living in misery and squalor) until Israel, in the interests of national security and against world opinion, use overwhelming force to completely subdue Gaza, remove all the Palestinians to the West Bank and other areas, and resettle Gaza themselves, incorporating it fully into the larger Israel.

Any other guesses?

Well, especially the last scenario will have some potential. But, why should they suddenly launch more weapons than before?
On the other side, this could be a tool to get more support for the Israelis, because at a specific point, there shouldn't be any covering up the facts.
It might not persuade anti-Israelits, but it will give doubts to those who see the Palestinians as the "oppressed" people.

Also, it might be the biggest chance for the Palestinians to prove that they can do more than just speak. If you look at Ireland, you see that they also got their homes clean. Plus, they will have no injustices back to put forth. Palestinia will have to prove that it is worth the time and Israel can once again pressure the Palestinian government. They will run out of excuses.

We all know what the other future would be: War. And this would be a war Israel can't win..
