Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

I just want to mention that I am giving a silent thanks to the spirit of man that drove our ancestors to a new world in search of freedom and led them to found a government based on individual rights - overthrowing tyranny as a way of life.

Through their efforts, we now have a social structure where we can enjoy all the blessings individuals have created that we take for granted. Through them, capitalism was allowed to flourish and genius was allowed to exist on a scale unprecedented in man's history.

I am very grateful for being a human being in the USA in the times I live.

There is no other word for the emotion I feel, although it is not completely precise. What I feel is a unique nuance of gratitude mixed with pride.

If those ancestors were alive today, I would even toast them with a glass of good cheer.

Michael

Edit - Wow! Where are my manners? Of course this greetings comes from Kat also. (I have been an individual individualist for far too long. I am also extremely grateful that I am now a warmly accompanied individualist.)

This year I’m particularly thankful to the dear friends that have helped me make it through the last two and a half years after things really bottomed out in the start of 2003. My friend’s Carrie, Dylan, Bob and Lisa, Theresa, and everyone at Cordair Fine Art were all instrumental in helping me pick up the pieces and start over. I’m also thankful to the woman of my dreams that I met two years ago. I won’t give her name, but I will say that she’s the most incredible, inspiring, brilliant, and beautiful woman I've ever known in my 35 years. And even though my life was too chaotic and painful for us to stay together, she was the one person that finally convinced me to seek professional help from a therapist. Having started down that road I will always be thankful to the people at the Center for Creative Growth in Berkeley, Ca. They helped me achieve a new level of insight about the many different paths I've chosen in my lifetime, a more optimistic view of my future, a better understanding about forgiveness, and a feeling of calm I've never known.

And I’m thankful that back in the summer of 2000 Doug McGuff’s book "Ultimate Exercise" lead me to read Mike Mentzer's "Heavy Duty II", which lead me to read Atlas Shrugged. Go figure…
