I was watching House tonight(Fox; tues. 9:00 EST) and Dr. House, the main character, said 'If we try to love everyone indiscrimately, we can't function."

If there is anyone out there who has not seen this show, watch it!  It's the closest anyone has come to objectivism with a fictional character since Rand wrote Atlas Shrugged.

Did anyone see the episode where the black man wouldn't believe that the medicine for sickel cell made for black people would work, and asked for the "white people's" medicine, and house lied and gave him the correct medicine under the guise of the medicine?
It's been bugging me, because the black doctor yelled at him for not letting "his people" make their own mistakes...on the one hand, House knew the man was being irrational, so lied to save him, on the other hand, he pandered to the man's racism.

I thought it was ironic that the time where House acted out of "compassion" he was chastised for it...
